Step-by-Step Guide: How to Add a Hikvision DVR/NVR or Network Cameras to Hik-Connect for Remote Access and Monitoring

Hik-connect is a mobile app designed and developed by Hikvision to help users remotely manage their security cameras, digital video recorders(DVR), and network video recorders(NVR) from anywhere, anytime.

The Hik-connect app provides users with easy access to live and recorded video feeds, as well as a range of advanced features such as Alarm notification of motion detection and video playback.

Adding a Hikvision DVR or NVR to the Hik-connect app is a straightforward process that involves a few simple steps.

Note: Ensure the DVR or NVR is connected with a modem through Cat6 Cable. and make sure it is online and configured for remote access before adding it to the Hik-connect app.

Step 1: Download and install the Hik-connect app.

The app is available for both Android and iOS devices and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Step 2: Create an account:

Once you have installed the Hik-connect app, you need to create an account.
Launch the app and follow the on-screen instructions to sign up for an account. You will need to provide your email address or mobile phone number and password.
Once you have created your account, you will be prompted to log in.

How to Create an Account on Hikconnect, follow the Images below.

Click on the Login/Register button.
Click on Register which is below in the left-hand side below the password text box.
Click on Agree for terms and conditions.

Select the country code.
There are two options for registering your account, the first with Email and the other with a Mobile number.
Put the Verification code as in the images.

And now you got a message from Hik-connect with 4 digit number. Put this number in the Security code text box and click on the finish.

Scan QR Code - 

Tap on the menu button (Three horizontal lines) or the (+) button located in the top left corner of the screen.
Select "Scan QR Code" from the list of options.
Point your smartphone or tablet camera at the QR code located on your Hikvision device.
The QR Code generally can be found on the label attached to the device or Device setting go to  

Configuration ->Network->Platform-Access and there you got the QR Code.
Wait for the app to scan the QR code, and the device information will automatically be filled in the required fields.

Finally, Enter the verification code of the device, which can be found in Network->Platform access on the device. Finally, tap on "Add" to complete the process.

Manual Adding - 

Manual adding a Hikvision device is a very easy process.
Click on the (+) button and click on Manual adding.
Put the serial number of the DVR or NVR and click on the Save button located in the top left corner of the screen.

Next, you have to click on the large red button (Add). And put the verification code of the device and there you go.

Add your Device to Online Device mode- 

Before adding your Hikvision DVR and NVR to the HIK connect app you need to first connect your DVR and NVR to your router via an Ethernet cable.

Go to Network then click on Platform-access and make sure your device status is online.

Once DVR or NVR is online then open the HIK-connect app and click on Add Device.
There are multiple ways to add a device on the Hik-connect platform. The below options for adding the device on the Hik-connect server are in online mode.

Note: The Next step asks for the application that gives your device name and asks about giving access to your installer to manage your devices remotely.
